My name is Yanna Henriquez, and I’m running for New York City Council in District 21—home to Corona, Jackson Heights, East Elmhurst, and Lefrak City. I’ve proudly served this community for over 32 years as a tenant advocate, youth organizer, immigrant rights champion, and civic leader. This campaign isn’t just about politics—it’s about continuing a lifetime of service and fighting for the resources and respect our neighborhoods deserve.
That’s why I’m deeply honored to have earned the support of trusted local and national leaders, including:
Congressman Gregory Meeks
Congressman Adriano Espaillat
Councilmember Francisco Moya
Assemblymember Amanda Septimo
The Queens County Democratic Party
These are leaders who know what it takes to stand up for working-class communities. They’ve seen the kind of leadership our neighborhoods need—and they believe in mine. Their endorsements aren’t just ceremonial—they’re votes of confidence in the work I’ve done and the change I’m ready to deliver at City Hall.
Our campaign is backed by a growing coalition of labor unions, advocacy organizations, and environmental groups that represent the beating heart of Queens. I’m proud to be endorsed by:
UFT (United Federation of Teachers)
UNITE HERE Local 100
CWA (Communications Workers of America)
Hotel Trades Council
Local 372
NYLCV (New York League of Conservation Voters)
Voters for Animal Rights
NYCLASS
League of Humane Voters
Statewide Association of Minority Businesses (SAMB)
These organizations fight every day for union rights, fair housing, public health, animal welfare, environmental justice, and small business protections. I’m running to amplify their efforts and ensure District 21 has a seat at the table when decisions are made.
Our district is facing urgent challenges that can’t wait:
Public Safety: We need safer streets, especially around Roosevelt Avenue, and better resourced precincts in the 110 and 115 without resorting to over-policing.
Education: We need more classrooms and new schools to reduce overcrowding and give our children the learning environments they deserve.
Affordable Housing: True affordability—not units labeled affordable that working families still can’t access.
Green Infrastructure: Stormwater investments, climate-resilient planning, and clean streets to protect our neighborhoods from extreme weather.
Small Business Recovery: Direct support for local entrepreneurs who are still rebuilding post-COVID and under inflationary pressure.
These aren’t campaign slogans. They’re issues I’ve worked on for years—and now I’m ready to take that fight into City Hall.
When El Diario featured our campaign, it was a reflection of something powerful: our movement is growing because it’s rooted in trust, lived experience, and a real track record of showing up. For decades, I’ve knocked on doors, translated for immigrant families, connected tenants to resources, and helped youth find mentorship. That work doesn’t end with a campaign—it expands with it.
Together, we can build a future where our streets are safer, our schools are stronger, our housing is stable, and our environment is clean and resilient. But none of this is possible without your voice and your vote.
🗳️ Early voting runs through June 22.
📅 Election Day is Tuesday, June 24.
This is our moment to win real change. Knock doors, make calls, donate, or just spread the word. Join us at yannafornyc.net/yannafornyclinks and be part of this people-powered movement.
Let’s finish strong—and build a stronger Queens for all of us.
